While raising orphaned kangaroos, Max and Indie, I began to realise how little most people understand about them.
At the same time, I kept thinking about the stories that shaped me as a child. Stories that taught empathy, and helped me see animals as more than just wildlife.
That’s where the idea for this book began.

Jaffa’s story unfolds at Amaris Wildlife Sanctuary in Western Australia, where she shares an extraordinary bond with wildlife carer Maggie van Santen, affectionately known as Mummy.
Told in Jaffa’s own voice, her story is filled with humour, personality, and the small, special details that shaped her early life.
